I think we have all expected the time to come when schools are instructed to close. This time has now arrived and I am writing to confirm that Kingsway Junior School will be closed from Monday 23rd March until further notified. It is reluctantly that we do this as we have been working hard to keep the school open to support our families and the community.
Our teachers have worked hard to create work for pupils to do during this time. ‘Online Home Learning Resources’ was given out to pupils on Thursday 19th March 2020 and we ask that the work is completed during this period. This work has been set for a two week period. We have also set work that parents can access on the school website (click the children tab and then Online Home learning Resources and choose the year group. Wherever a resource is password protected please contact the Year group teacher for the password.
Each pupil has received a writing book and pencil to help them to complete their work. If your child has been in self-isolation, this book is in the school office ready for collection.
Teachers will email parents on Wednesday 25th to touch base and check how their children are getting on. The year group teachers will share an email address:
If you have not received an email by 12pm on Wednesday 25th April, then please email the year group email address. Alternatively, if you are experiencing problems please email the office firstname.lastname@example.org.
Teachers will email parents as a year group to keep in touch and set new work as the week’s progress. The timings of these emails will be predetermined by myself.
As this is a new way of working for us, we ask for your patience and please not to overload mailboxes with enquiries. We will roll this out slowly; you can expect a specific enquiry by a teacher or the office to be answered within 2 days. Teachers will check emails throughout the school opening hours, term time only (Not Easter holidays) and not weekends. They have been instructed not to look at or reply to emails outside of these times. If a teacher is diagnosed with illness, parents will be informed by the Phase Leader who will take over distributing work. During this period, we will try our best to get back to parents.
We appreciate that some of our more vulnerable families may need support and guidance during this non-contact time with school. Therefore, if parents and pupils need support or guidance, they are urged to email Mrs Johnson at email@example.com email address and she will get back to them within 2 days. Mrs Johnson is preparing to contact these families on Monday via email.
I cannot thank you enough for your continued support and positive messages. I feel sad to be sending this letter of closure and I hope we are able to open in the not too distant future.
Finally, look after yourselves and your families.
