Pupil Premium

At Kingsway Junior School we use our pupil premium funding in a range of ways.

 

We have a projected budget of £84860 for the financial year 2016 17

 

Teaching assistants are funded for additional hours to support children in personalised and small group interventions throughout the school day.  We employ an additional teacher who focuses on closing the gaps in knowledge in English and maths.

Support is offered through a range of initiatives such as one to one tuition, extra curriculum sessions in maths and English, support for children to attend school trips and school journey's.

Pupil premium children are supported individually to develop their interests through enrichment sessions such as drama and music.

Pastoral support and a focus on attendance is funded through pastoral and behaviour support staff.

Having reviewed the gap in attainment between pupil premium children and other children we have an action plan which focussed on overcoming the barriers that some children face.  Providing more targeted support within the classroom will be achieved through increasing the amount of Teaching Assistant hours available to support in class.  Where there are social and emotional barriers we are investing in ensuring some members of staff are trained to work on supporting the children to overcome these barriers.  We focus on the individual and will continue to  highlight individual barriers that may prevent a child realising their potential, whatever that barrier may be.

We will be reviewing our pupil premium strategy in autumn 2017 following detailed analysis of the impact of our current action plan.
