Assemblies at Kingsway Junior School

Assemblies are an important part of our school week. They bring our whole school community together to celebrate achievements, share our values, and learn about the world around us.

What happens in our assemblies

Our assemblies provide opportunities for pupils to:

• Celebrate individual and class achievements
• Learn about important themes and values
• Develop their understanding of British values, including democracy, mutual respect and tolerance
• Explore different cultures, faiths and beliefs
• Reflect on current events and issues that matter to them
• Develop confidence through presenting to others

Class assemblies

Each class has the opportunity to present an assembly to the school community throughout the year. These assemblies are based on selected themes that usually link to:

• Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum
• Religious festivals and celebrations from different faiths
• British values
• Current topics the children are learning about

Class assemblies give children the chance to showcase their learning, develop their presentation skills, and share what they've discovered with the rest of the school.

Our diverse community

We are proud of our diverse school community. Our assemblies reflect and celebrate this diversity by:

• Learning about different cultures, traditions and beliefs
• Marking religious festivals throughout the year
• Promoting respect and understanding for all
• Encouraging children to appreciate what makes each person unique

Parent and carer involvement

Parents and carers are warmly invited to attend class assemblies. We'll let you know in advance when your child's class is presenting so you can join us to celebrate their learning.
