Welcome to Year 4 at Kingsway Junior

Year 4 is an exciting year, full of opportunities for pupils to build on and develop the foundations established in Year 3 and prepare for their transition to Upper Key Stage 2. We maintain high expectations and high ambitions, encouraging pupils to take ownership of their learning, deepen their knowledge, and develop confidence and resilience.

To support parents and carers, we share:

• Curriculum overviews so you can see the topics and subjects your child will be exploring throughout the year.

• Meet the Teacher slides with helpful details about routines, expectations, and key information about the year.

Year 4 is about strengthening skills, nurturing independence, and preparing pupils for the challenges and opportunities of Upper Key Stage 2. We have two classes in Year 4—Crowns and Shields—and together we work closely to ensure that every child is fully supported to thrive. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s teacher. We are always here to help.

From the moment you walk into Shields class you will see children who are engaged in their learning . They have a lively set of inquiring minds who are surrounded by experienced and caring adults. Shields class learners take more responsibility for their own learning as they are supported to becoming independent learners.
