Kingsway pupils know how to make their voices heard! Before half term, we told you that we would not be dressing up for World Book Day, as part of our continuing effort to save money and the environment. However, we are very proud that some pupils created a petition to persuade staff to allow children to dress up on this special day. They successfully canvassed children at lunchtime to get their views. Signatures were gathered from all year groups, with one reason for signing being, “World Book Day is my favourite day of the year and I want to celebrate it!”
Because of this excellent organisation and confidence in leadership, and in recognition of the importance of listening to children’s views, we have decided to change the plan! So, next Thursday 6th March, children will be able to wear either a book inspired costume or a pair of pyjamas (to celebrate bedtime reading). Please do not spend money on an outfit but put something simple together at home. Teachers will be supporting children with ideas. Thank you for your continued support!
