Art Gallery Year 3 2021/22

Summer 1 2022

Spring 1 2022

Spring... What better time to learn about different shades and colours! This term we experimented with light and dark shades, tones and how to hold a pencil depending on what style we were trying to achieve. Tricky to say the least. Once we mastered the skill of shade and tone, we worked on perfecting our sketching skills with geometric shapes used to draw soda cans. We also really enjoyed drawing Woody from Toy Story.

Autumn 1 2021

In the Autumn term our Year 3 children cover various drawing techniques, beginning their year with Tatzkreen Art. We then move on to exploring Prehistoric art techniques, taking a look at how art was established in the past and then create their own masterpiece using materials such as charcoal. We also investigated the famous artist Carl Giles, who was a cartoonist best known for his work for the British newspaper the Daily Express. Children then use their creative talents, illustrating their family using only geometrical shapes (a much-loved activity amongst all). A new concept is taught, Zentangle Art, this entails using only patters and shapes to colour a picture in instead of using traditional methods.
