Spring 1 2022
What better term than Spring to celebrate a little treat here or there... Our wrapper collage. The year 5 children outdid themselves and produced replica art that was outstanding. So many skills built into one activity. We then moved on to something quite different, take a closer look at our 'QUEEN' art. Instead of using the normal lines for sketching we attempted using words as our outline. The children confidently completed this task. In the last week of the term we spoke about using symbols instead of words, relating back to ancient cave drawings and Egyptian Hieroglyphics, but instead we used modern day symbols, Emoji's.
Autumn 1 2021
Our year 5 children start the term off by learning how to shade and create shades of a specific colour, this skill will be used later when fine details drawings will be done. Using a central text in English, the year 5 children stuck to the topic of 'Monsterology' creating monster eyes using wet clay and glass eyes. This took a lot of precision, fine-motor skills and creativity. It is truly amazing to see the ideas that were developed. The Monsterology eyes are then painted to give them a real life effect. Another fun activity this term, is creating an optical illusion. Two photos are used, sticking them in alternate orders, the one side showing the picture of a tiger and the other the habitat the tiger possibly lives in. Fun all round!
