Art Gallery Year 4 2021/22

Summer 1 2022

Spring 1 2022

Charcoal is an ideal medium to learn how to work with tonal values. It can be manipulated in so many ways... ask our Year 4's. From experimenting with charcoal descriptions of emotions and expressions to drawing and expressing our current thoughts and feelings. The year 4 children also discovered repeated patterns and tessellation this Spring term, many were amazed how certain shapes landed up creating new shapes. Integrating Maths is always a fun way to learn!

Autumn 1 2021

In year 4 the children explore various techniques and skills needed to sketch. Pencil grip, shades, lines, textures and patterns. The famous artist looked at this term is Thomas Martin. Who is 'Thomas Martin' you might ask, Minton was a British artist who designed a range of 'chinoiserie' pottery which during the 18th century, became extremely popular. We know this better as a Willow Plate. We used the traditional fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel, to create our own unique Willow Plate designs.
