Spring 1 2022
Our year 6 children learnt all about Claude Monet, a famous impressionist. They made a really good attempt at completing the iconic "Japanese Foot Bridge". Not an easy task in the least. In line with our 'Feeling good week' in February, we extended on and advanced our Zentangle art skills. Take a look at our unique and creative elephants, the detail and finesse shown in these animals is amazing. What a time to celebrate the legend elephant Amarula, the most famous elephant in South Africa, who sadly passed away this week (9/2/2022) at the age of 65. Although sad, we all enjoyed watching the funny things he did which led us to many a conversation.
Autumn 1 2021
This term kicks off with exploring Graffiti. What is it? Where do we see it? Who does it? One famous artist we explore is Banksy. The lesson takes shape around 'Having my voice heard'. Year 6 children also participate in a series of art activities to expand their competence in line, shape, tone and dimensions before taking on the challenge of doing a self-portrait. Zentangle is introduced to encourage mindfulness and well-being. We also celebrate Black History Month as a whole school project, the year 6 children contribute by adding paper collage backgrounds and pop-art to the walls of the school.
