Art Gallery Year 3 2022/23

Spring term 2023

During the spring term we experimented with colours, recapping what primary colours are and how to mix primary colours to get secondary colours. We also worked on our shading skills, using our pencil grip knowledge learned last term. We looked deeper into pictures that use tones to show where the light or shadows fall on an item. We put these skills to good practice.

Autumn 1 2022

We kick-started the year by covering various drawing techniques, pencil grip, rubbing out, sketching techniques, and many others. Our first activity for the year was Tatzkreen Art. Decorating hand outlines in creative patterns and designs. We then moved on to exploring Prehistoric art techniques, taking a look at how art was established in the past and then creating our own masterpieces illustrating bird sketches. We also investigated the famous artist Carl Giles, who was a cartoonist best known for his work for the British newspaper the Daily Express. Children then use their creative talents, illustrating their family using only geometrical shapes (a much-loved activity among all). A new concept spoken about was Zentangle art, which will be explored again in Spring 1. I am super amazed at the level of art coming from our brand new Year 3 children, well done to all.
